How we support IBM DataPower Gateway → AWS API Gateway after migration

  • Fixed-scope migration with no budget surprises
  • Senior cloud integration architects lead your project
  • Keep DataPower under vendor support during cutover
  • Save 40–70% on legacy support while you plan
  • 24/7 US-based support for hybrid environments
  • Optional post-migration AWS serverless management

Non-HTTP protocol lock-in

Non-HTTP protocols like IBM MQ, JMS, and FTP are directly handled by DataPower and not natively supported by AWS API Gateway.

Proprietary crypto & HSM dependency

Proprietary cryptographic algorithms or hardware-based key storage requirements that are difficult to replicate in the cloud.

Legacy SOAP services

Legacy SOAP web services that cannot easily be wrapped or modernised for a RESTful Gateway.

IBM DataPower Gateway → AWS API Gateway migration — your questions answered

How do you handle non-HTTP protocols like IBM MQ or JMS?+

We keep DataPower online to handle MQ, JMS, and FTP during the hybrid phase. Those protocols are wrapped or replaced as part of the fixed-scope project. Your existing vendor support covers DataPower until the last workload moves.

What about proprietary cryptographic algorithms or HSM requirements?+

If your encryption requires hardware security modules, we design a bridge. DataPower retains those functions until we migrate to equivalent AWS services (e.g., CloudHSM). The legacy platform stays under vendor support during this transition.

We have legacy SOAP web services that can't be modernized quickly. How do you handle that?+

SOAP services can run on DataPower in parallel while we wrap them in REST APIs or refactor them for AWS API Gateway. We manage the hybrid state so your consumers see no disruption.

Do I risk a coverage gap if my DataPower support renewal comes due before the migration is done?+

Your DataPower environment remains under vendor support as long as your contract is active. If your renewal lapses, our third-party support covers most operational issues on DataPower while you finish the migration. You set the timeline.
