Omnissa Horizon 8.2103 End of Life Status

Omnissa Horizon 8.2103 reached its end of life and end of active support on March 23, 2024. Because 8.2103 is not a Long-Term Support (LTS) release and is the latest version in its specific line, the vendor has ceased all official maintenance for it. You can verify this timeline on the official lifecycle page.

While the software will continue to operate normally, organizations still running this version must understand the operational and security implications of operating without OEM backing.

What End of Life Means in Practice

When a non-LTS release like Horizon 8.2103 passes its end of active support date, the vendor stops providing:

  • Security patches: Newly discovered vulnerabilities will not be patched by the vendor.
  • Bug fixes: Any software defects discovered after March 23, 2024, will remain unresolved.
  • Technical support: The vendor will no longer provide troubleshooting or engineering assistance for this version.

Your existing VDI environment does not shut down, but the safety net provided by the manufacturer is gone.

Why Organizations Stay on Horizon 8.2103

Despite the end of vendor support, many IT teams choose to keep Horizon 8.2103 in production. Common reasons include:

  • Stable Workloads: The current deployment meets all performance and business requirements.
  • Application Dependencies: Legacy applications often require specific versions of VDI infrastructure to function correctly.
  • Hardware Constraints: Upgrading to a newer Horizon release may mandate costly server or storage hardware refreshes.
  • Resource Allocation: IT teams are focused on other strategic initiatives and lack the cycles for a major migration.

Risks of Running Unsupported VDI Environments

The primary risk of remaining on an unsupported Horizon release is security. Virtual desktop infrastructure is a critical access point to your corporate network. Without regular security updates, newly discovered exploits can leave your environment vulnerable. Additionally, running unsupported software can trigger compliance violations in highly regulated industries.

Maintaining Stability with Third-Party Support

Forcing an upgrade is not the only way to secure your environment. Third-party maintenance provides a proven alternative for organizations that want to maximize the ROI of their existing Horizon 8.2103 deployment.

Independent support providers deliver deep technical assistance, operational troubleshooting, and security mitigations to keep your VDI environment safe and functional. This allows you to run your software safely past the vendor's dates, often at a fraction of the cost of your last vendor renewal.

If you are still running this release and need a strategy to keep it secure and supported, contact our team to learn how third-party maintenance can extend the life of your Horizon infrastructure.

How we can help

Keep it running after end of support

Hardware or software, the end-of-support date doesn’t have to force a refresh. We keep enterprise infrastructure maintained, secure and under SLA long after the vendor moves on — typically at 40-70% below OEM pricing.

End-of-life support →

Migration services

When you do decide to move, we plan and execute the migration. Your current environment stays under vendor support while your contract is active — and if the renewal lapses mid-move, our third-party support covers most issues until the last workload is off it.

24×7 remote administration

Short on hands to run it day to day? Our NOC engineers monitor, patch and administer your environment around the clock — incident response included, at a fraction of the cost of an in-house night shift.
